Anglers to Assynt will welcome the news that the Altnacealgach Inn has reopened!  From the 2nd July fishers will, once again, be able to buy their fishing permits and rent the boats and engines as before.  It is good to see this historic establishment functioning again.  

Trout fishing has been extremely good from the start of the season until now.  Many sizeable catches have been recorded from a real variety of lochs.  Even some of the generally dour lochs have given up good sport.  The number of trout in the 3 to 6 lbs range has moved well into double figures.  Some of the lochs producing these fish are remarkably small and at first glance don’t look worth fishing.  One just never knows what surprises are in store for the assiduous angler.
